St. Louis Mo camp ground

We are getting ready to go to St. Louis this June for Cardinals game and some site seeing we have a 12 year old boy. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good camp ground in that area.

It depends what type of site you need and the weekly rate is much cheaper than the daily rate. We are in a large site and are paying $35 per night with the weekly rate. That is pretty darned reasonable when you consider how expensive even state parks are nowadays. Some people park their long 5th wheels in the smaller sites and then park their tow vehicle on the gravel that is between the sites. Almost everyone has their lawn chairs and grills out too. We feel completely safe here. We did not venture anywhere else in East St Louis even during the daylight hours.

I've stayed at the Casino Queen before. I was wondering about the price for 5th wheel camping. Web site was confusing.

We are currently staying at Casino Queen. The campground is not fancy, just really a black topped parking lot with hook ups. There are two sections, the smaller sites have a few trees, the large sites are out in the open. The campground is close to the interstate and there is lots of train traffic. However, the trains are moving very slowly so once the engines are past, the noise it really not noticeable. There is a really nice grassy area with covered picnic tables and a children's play area and there were some kids out there playing. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We drove to the zoo. Parking is $15 and they take credit cards for the parking. It backs up traffic terribly with all those long credit card transactions. We took the Metro Link to Busch Stadium for a tour, one of the best $10 we spent (per person) and we also took the Metro Link to the Arch. We did not feel unsafe in any way. The Casino has a free shuttle to take you to/from the game. You can call or flag down Security from the campground and they will pick you up and take you to the Metro Link station or the Casino. The advertised mini mart for the campground sells mostly alcohol. Just follow the directions carefully and you will not have trouble finding the Casino. The state park is fine but is is far away from the attractions you will want to visit and parking is pretty darned expensive. We will stay here the next time we want to see a Cardinals game.

there are several state parks within an hours drive of the city but you might want to look into reservations One of our favorites is Cuivere State park North of St Louis

We stayed here last summer....Lakeside 360 (or 370)?? It was very,very nice and clean. Just be forewarned there is zero shade. There is a lake with a walking/biking path that was nice. It's a little drive into St. Louis, but not bad.

If you have a big rig, I would stay away from Jellystone. My MH is 43" long and I attempted to get a site there last year for a couple of nights. The first one they assigned me wasn't big enough to get off the street, then they tried to get me to go into a couple of others that I would have had my wheels off the ground to level. I was happy to get out of there without doing any damage to my rig except for a couple of tree limb scrapes. I went across the highway to the KOA and had a nice level site.

We stayed in Babler park last summer and had a great time. The commute downtown was about 30 minutes.

Lots of places. St Louis RV Park is an option. Very bad part of town after dark. Park is very secure, but outside the park can be dangerous. Casino Queen. Jellystone Park in Eureka. KOA in Eureka, Pin Oak Creek RV Park in Villa Ridge. Babler SP in Wildwood (or maybe Manchester). Robertsville SP in Robertsville. 370 Lakeside RV Park in St Peters. Sundermeiers RV Park in St Charles. (Washington SP or St Francois SP-a little farther out, but nice parks). 370 Lakeside will give you deep discounts to the St Peters? REC-PLEX. A very unique rec building with numerous things to do (including but not limited to swimming).

If you are going to be in town a few days. With a 12 year old boy, I would highly recommend Jellystone or KOA. These parks are next door/across the road (respectively) from Six Flags St Louis (in Eureka). Jellystone offers deep discounted SFSL tickets and a pancake breakfast. Jellystone always has kid related activities and a pool. They can likely help you out with Cardinals tickets too.

SFSL has TWO (2) complete theme parks for one price. The rides park has 8 roller coasters (one is brand spankin new). The water park has numerous slides, tornado ride, lazy river, wave pool.

Jellystone RV park in Eureka, MO is about 15 minutes West of I-270. Looks like more of a campground experience than RV park by looking at the website. A bit pricey in IMHO. We drove through Babler SP, it is nice. We drove past Sundermeier RV park in St. Charles. Convenient but basically a parking lot. St. Charles is also a nice place to visit. There is also the Red Barn Rendezvous in Edwardsville, IL it is a small Rv park on the frontage road by I-55 & IL Rt 143. The Zoo, Science Center and Grants Farm are all free. Have a great visit!

We stayed at Babler as well when visiting St. Louis, was a great place, quiet and not to far a commute.
