Stop over at Elks Lodges

We are planning a trip to the Grand Canyon next month. It will be our first long trip (mileage/time) after retiring.
We have booked reservation at the Grand Canyon Trailer Village for 3 nights.
I would like to stay at Elks Lodges on the way (I am a member). Since we are only staying overnight at most, there would be a cost savings.
I would like to get thoughts, on the following lodges. There condition, etc.
Kingman Lodge – overnight – no faculties
Holbrook Lodge – 1 night – water/dump
Albuquerque Lodge – 1 night – electric/water
Carlsbad Lodge – 1 night – no faculties
Willcox – overnight – electrical/water/dump
Phoenix – 1 night – no faculties
We have booked reservation at the Sam’s Family Spa Hot Water Resort for 3 nights. Before our ‘dash’ home.
If any have other thoughts please let me know.
  • It is recommended to call the lodge in question before stopping in.
  • As you are a member of Elks, order a "Elkdom Travel Guide" at Lodge 2103, Carmichael, CA (916) 484-1021. It is for Elks members who RV and lists lodges that have RV areas set aside for a safe stop over. I believe there are four books covering the US. and were $10 each last time I ordered. Enjoy :)
  • Understand there is a restriction on staying at Kingman Elks by the city. We stayed at Holbrook for the night a few times and works for us.We found it quiet when we stayed there. At Phoenix we have stayed multiple times at Tempe Elks with hookups. Most times we stayed in their full hookup sites but a few times we did overflow for one night then into the regular sites. We have also stayed at Tucumcari (difficult to find an available spot there when we have tried at times but commercial places there also), Grants dry camp in large parking lot but quiet, and Needles. All the lodges very cordial and welcoming.
  • Willcox elks is a nice place to stop, EXCEPT for the train noise. Two tracks just a stones throw away makes for a very loud night. Those trains are really moving when they go through town. But nice elks, nice folks.
  • Rather than Phoenix you may want to stay at Scottsdale with hookups. We stayed there many years ago, don't remember much more. Same with Albuquerque Lodge many years ago. Love the new sites you have in Santa Maria.
    Regards Dick
  • The Carlsbad lodge is great, huge swimming pool and they do have 4 elec hookups, that are mounted on 1 pole, so it's a little difficult to get 4 rigs all plugged in, but possible. We were traveling with another couple and parked up on the gravel road, another rig came in and parked below us on the grass, so all 3 were plugged in. They ask for a donation to stay.
