Suggestions for places to stay between AZ and NM

Hi there! We're currently in Phoenix and planning to start traveling towards Albuquerque tomorrow or Sunday. Any suggestions for beautiful places to see or stay on the way? We don't move very fast, preferring to travel only an hour per day. Ideally we'd like to stay by water but are having trouble finding anything that isn't tent only. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

You didn't say what route you wanted to take but I'd suggest heading toward Apache Junction and picking up Hwy 87 to Payson then 260 east to Springerville to New Mexico Hwy 60 to I-25 and north to Albuquerque.

However...check the weather forecast first. This is early. There are wonderful forest service parks along this route but I don't believe you'll find them open. Fool Hollow Lake State Park in Show Low might be open. You'll need electric as it's still cold up that way.

There would be more RV parks if you took I-40 but it's a boring drive into Albuquerque.

Answered this this Morning but the Site CLOSED DOWN!

Will try again.

For me if I were driving just an hour or two a day I'd try this route;

Sedona - close but no real water.

Next to Canyon de Chelly - water in the creeks after a rain.

Then to Window Rock -

To Blue Water State Park, on a Lake -

To Coronado State Monument on the Rio Grande.

Would be an interesting week.

Hope this is of some help,

I-10 / I-25

Kartchner Caverns SP - Just south of I-10 on AZ 90

Deming NM - City of Rocks SP a little to the north & Rockhound SP a little to the south

Several NM state parks going up I-25

If you go I-40 don't miss the Mining Museum in Grants, NM

You only move an hour a day? I guess you should mention what interests you have and let others offer suggestions. Took me an hour one trip just to get through Phoenix. Did you want lakes or rivers for water?
