Looking for a nice safe campground (with sewer) that is easy to drive into Charlotte each day. Will be there the last week of Oct.

Correct. We generally call ahead to see if they have an event. A couple weeks ago, they had one and the sites were $400/night, minimum 3 nights for the weekend. Ouch. And that wasn't a Nascar race. Something else. Otherwise they take Passport America and I think $25.

When there is no event, you get the entire pull through site. During events, they rent them back to back and get twice as many in, but otherwise you have a nice spacious site.

The best we have found is the Camping World Racing Resort, but you can't go in when there is a race. . . already would be booked up. Reasonably priced, FHU, 50 amp, laundry on site, etc. No frills, but clean, quiet, easy in/out. It's right next door to the speedway.

I went to the website and looks like you have to call to reserve? Is that correct or is there another website?

X2 on the raceway campground. No frills but a good place to park and site-see. Another one is right across the street, Ver-EL.

What we always do looking for a camp site is to use google maps for Charlotte NC i.e. Then after it loads up click on the MAP and in the SEARCH form type in RV CAMPGROUNDS. This will then show you where all of the RV Camp grounds are located around the Charlotte area. You can click on each of the camp grounds for their local information...

Of course it is neat to get info from folks that have visited the camp grounds before but this will give an idea where you might want to ask about on here... I would have never thought about the race track camp ground when there is not a race going on at Charlotte...

We like the Carowinds Camp Wilderness RV Park on Catawba Trace in Charlotte. Mostly full hookup pull-thru sites at reasonable prices. The adjacent amusement park is closed for the season now, so the RV park is very quiet. Even when it's open the noise is not intrusive.
