Ive been hearing requests from the family for a summer beach trip and this year is the year. Now to narrow it down to a good fit for our needs. We used to go to LBI every year to the same house, 2nd house from the beach, so we're kinda spoiled. Never had to worry about snacks, bathroom, parking, etc. Not looking for that in a campground, but proximity to beach(s) will be a plus.
We were looking at a campgrounds near LBI, but there aren't many to be had, and to be honest, boardwalks and other attractions my generate more interest for our kids (14 & 16), so looking now near Ocean City, Cape May, Wildwood area. We want full hookups, not too many grouchy seasonals, not overrun with pets and their attendant biohazards. Don't care too much about total number of campground ammenities since we don't normally use most of them anyhow. We go places to see the surrounding attractions more than hang around the campground, so things like minigolf, laundry, rock painting, camp store, gameroom, etc. are NOT must-haves.
Our priorities run more like: sites not too close together, private location of campground, quiet, clean, full hook up, proximity to local attractions/beaches. We do 99% state parks near home, so backing in and partial hook ups are the norm for us. We like space and hiking, kayaking, biking, etc., normally, so this trip will be out of our norm, in that, we WANT full hook ups for the convenience, but not all the glitz that usually comes with it.
We looked at Assateague State Park because camping right on the beach appeals to us, but they appear to be booked up on loop H already, so were down to plan B. Cost isn't our first consideration, given that it's a one-time trip for a week, so anything under $100/night is probably doable. Obviously, cheaper is better, but not at the cost of location for a nice park. So far, it looks like Big Timber at Cape May Courthouse may be a decent fit. Any suggestions which fit our criteria will be considered. Thanks!
On edit: Have also now looked at Seashore and Frontier. Seashore looks very nice (almost too nice!) and Frontier has no pictures. Both would probably work unless someone can tell us of unseen problems.
