we are retiring soon and going semi full time - starting this summer. we have reservations at cheyenne state park in colorado - but wondering about other state parks around hway 70 that you would recommend - we pull 24 ft. trailer and don't want to boondock or white knuckle drive. thanks for any replies.

Well, I can tell you one thing: you have picked a great place to start! Cheyenne Mountain is one of our favorite spots, and you are fortunate to have a reservation there.

Can't help much related to I-70. We have stayed in our RV all over Colorado, but only once I can remember along I-70. That was at a campground called "River Dance." -- East of Glenwood Springs. That was because we were on a long trip back to Colorado from the west and we really needed to break our trip around that point.

Where we HAVE stayed: Estes Park, Buena Vista, Gunnison, Creede, Durango, Cortez, and, of course, Colorado Springs, just to name a few.

Hi,

Here is a way to look:

Free and Low Cost Campsites

Bob's Cheap or Free Campsites

not necessarily boondocking

Helpful hint: In this category if you want helpful responses, the best way to get them is to title your thread with the State(s) and Routes you'll be traveling. In the meantime I recommend you use the search feature at Woodalls.com and narrow down your list of possibles using their descriptions.

I'm just curious. I read the title of your post, 'surging' and thought it was about an electrical problem.
How does it relate to recommending campgrounds?
