This forum needs something going on in the Southwest now that summer is ending.
The blood moon was in full view the other night
Last weekend went out to Bouse for a dedication of the last monument to the Army units that served there and their service in Europe from D Day to the wars end.

for those who visit the monuments they are next to the Tank.
Then drove to Swansea, road was a little rough due to wash outs, but a hi clearance SUV will be ok.

Then went out to the actual Camp bouse about 18 miles NE from the town.
this pic is where the chapel was

Got up at 430 in the morning for some stargazing,Venus was bright,as was Jupiter.Orion was clear and the milky way was really clear

We've been to several of Patton's troop camps. Several remote sites can be located using Geocaching.com. There are some really out of the way historic sites in the area.

The Swansea townsite is a great boondocking destination for the adventurous. The townsite has several campsites with picnic tables to set up at. Not suitable for large vehicles as there is a restricted weight bridge on the road. If you don't mind miles of gravel roads, you'll likely be spending the night alone with the ghosts as few folks spend the night in Swansea.

We had lunch at that very spot, across the street from where the company houses were.If you are into WWII visit the Patton camps

there were 12 main camps in the Ariz calif training area where 145,000 men trained for North Afica desert, but never went there.
