I don't think a discussion on which states require a title, and which don't, is going to help OP. He needs to know what he needs to import it into Alberta.
The suggestion to check with his equivalent of DMV is the right answer in my opinion.

midnightsadie is correct.
I once bought a small utility trailer that was from Kansas, and I live in IL. It was brought to IL but never licensed. In KS, no title was needed....in IL it was. So after an inch of paperwork, it has an Il title.
Point is -- every state is a bit different with regards to titles / bills of sale, etc.

Call the local DMV. As long as it has a valid license plate in your home province your OK.

In Ontario you would need the Bill of Sale for the tax (payable at the border) and the title for the registration. Alberta is probably similar.
Make sure you get one with a VIN and statement of clearance of all recalls from the manufacturer or it isn't admissible.
Not kidding!
