Travel health insurance for Canadian Snowbirds.

Quartzster: Just how do they insure that you will not be denied coverage if you made a mistake? Even a Doctor or a lawyer will not guarantee you answered the questions correctly. Being as the head of the Wpg. fire dept. entered into a deal where someone else owned he property under a fire hall I doubt that being the head of the Ambulance service is much of a recommendation!. ALMCC: Please do not ever recommend Manulife. Gangsters in disguise! When one is over 70 price has to be secondary. Just getting coverage can be difficult. It is only going to get worse as Provinces cut back on what they will pay.

Have you tried the Canadian Snowbird Association?
With them you can choose variable deductions depending what makes you comfortable and greatly reduce your premiums. The also offer many other good services.

Try Hotwinters.ca....they will get you the best price from a number of brokers...and will ensure that you don't become uninsured due to making mistakes on the medical part. Many people have become uninsured due to inadvertent omissions on the medical form.

Google "kanetix "" . they are an underwriter based in Regina, Sask.

Then give them a call to get a quote for your specifics. Used them twice and they were better deal than Manulife.

Thanks for the replies--Costco (Manulife) will not insure me as I had a stent over 10 years ago. Last time I checked with BCAA (2 years ago) their quote was signifigantly higher than the others but I will check with them again next week.

I don't know that company but I note that Costco here in Canada is offering travel insurance through Manulife for (they say) reduced rates and they are offering up to a 5% discount on the rates for executive members.

I know a few folks here don't like Manulife, but you may want to check.

We have been using this company for 4 years. We are 60 and 67 this year. Buy a "top up" to my other coverage for when it expires after 40 days out of province. We bought 143 days , $5 million coverage each, $99 deductible, no medical issues, for around $1200 cdn for both.
Never had any problems with the company.
