I would plan for private campgrounds. Many of the state and national parks are booked solid Memorial Day through Labor Day already. That said, with a MH and toad, you can still enjoy all the beauty Michigan has to offer.
We have stayed at Indigo Bluffs twice after Plate River Campground screwed up my reservation. It's location is more central to Sleeping Bear NP and offers full hookups. We really enjoy that campground despite our preference towards state parks.
