TRYING to book State Park in the Florida Keys

Just spent a week down in long key sat-fri. It was really nice and not very busy, we were able to book the weekend after mini lobster season and right before reg lobster season.

Tried booking for Bahia Honda for June 2014, no luck. I figured that. Did get a week at Pennekamp.:) First week of June 2014.
Can't wait. We are going to have a blast. Grew up in South Miami, would hit the keys fishing all the time as a kid. I miss it, and want my kids to experience it.

Thanks, I didn't realize it was "real time".
It's just hard to believe that everything is already booked for January 2014.

Is there a way to know when someone gives up a camp site??

I was trying to get a Bahia Honda waterfront site. They didn't come up every day. But I was online every day they did come up. Took me over 6 weeks once.

On the other hand, one time I got two waterfront sites, next to each other using two computers. Guess everybody else was asleep that day.

I did it!!
After trying for a solid week, we were the lucky ones this morning. Reserved a site at Long Key!
Just have to have a little patience. Watch the clock and click at the last second. Luck of the draw is all it is.
Now we can rest easy and plan the rest of the vacation around this reservation.
Sticker shock is why we always try for the state parks first. Lots cheaper, but of course, since you pay when you reserve, Reserve America has our money all year too.

Most likely you will be able to find an opening in a private park for that time period, but be ready for "Sticker shock!"
