Utica N.Y.

I think that FX Matt came out with Matts in the 70s. They stopped everything except their 'fancy' Saranac beers in the 90s or 00s. I had heard they brought Utica Club back. I have a church key Utica Club opener from the 40s or 50s.

For those who might be interested, I did notice that Costco Kirkland brand beer/ale is brewed in Utica. It is mostly like the Saranac. The German Lager is most like UC. I drink that and leave the rest for the DH.

I remember hearing Genny was fired after they found Schilze in her pants.

Actually, UC is made by FX Matt Brewing Co., back in the 70's, they came out with a off shoot called Matt's, I never drank it but I think it was one of the Malt liquor types.

Funny about tastes - everyone got a different one. I am probably older than you - I left the area in 1960.

I never like the Genny Cream Ale - came with a green label if I recall. Another local beer
I recall was Old Topper or just Topper.

I believe Matts is the beer of choice in the area. Brewed by F.X. Matts the makers of U.C.

Turning Stone is your best bet if they are open.

Try a Utica Club or Matt's if they still make it. Also try a Hoffmann coney.

Me either - surprised to hear they'll still brewing. Being from Rochester,I was kind of torn between Genesee and UC,but the edge went to UC.

The Villages at Turning Stone is 20 miles west of Utica, right on the Interstate. According to their page, it is opens on April 15. It is one of the few 10-10-10 parks I've ever stayed at. We were there for ten days last Septemer/October.
