Video TR: Flaming Gorge (UT/WY)

It's Wednesday morning, so it must be time for a new video!

Flaming Gorge is a 42,000-acre recreation paradise spanning the Utah/Wyoming border. In the summer it's a hub of activity including not only world-class fishing and boating, but also swimming, kayaking, hiking, whitewater rafting and, of course, camping.

Come explore Flaming Gorge with us on this Kitchen Table Trips episode of Grand Adventure! We'll find relaxing boondocking along the eastern shore, along with Forest Service campgrounds and even full-hookup RV parks as well. We'll visit nearby Brown's Park, one of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid's favorite hideouts, to see the John Jarvie Historic Ranch maintained by the BLM, and we'll also kayak through Horseshoe Canyon. We'll gaze down upon Flaming Gorge from Red Canyon, and view the engineering marvel that is the Flaming Gorge Dam.

It's one of our favorite places to visit each year.

I found out about your vlog on the Escapees forum, checked it out, and have been a subscriber ever since. You always have informative videos, great scenery, and wholesome content. I always look forward to getting the notice that you’ve posted a new vlog. Thanks for giving the coordinates for your boondocking sites. Hopefully, before much longer, I’ll get back on the road and can experience the great outdoors, too. Thanks again for sharing.

I'm very flattered, Cat Lady! Thank you! I too am looking forward to getting back on the road, hopefully within the next few weeks. Then the travel videos will be much more interesting as they will no longer be kitchen table trips.

Indeed, I would've loved to have seen Glen Canyon before the dam, too! (And I too have paddled the Green from Ruby Ranch 103 miles to Spanish Bottom, just below the Confluence.) But the dams are there, and Flaming Gorge Dam left behind one of my favorite recreation areas in the entire region.
