Virginia Beach in April

Anyone have any suggestions for places to stay, attractions, things to do, during end of April? It would just be my wife and I for a get-away for our 32nd anniversary. We will be traveling from NY and prefer to stay with 4-5 hrs drive due to health issues of both our parents; do not want to be too far if need to run back. We usually like to spend at least a few days by the ocean, so for shorter trips end up at Delaware Seashore. I know VB will be further, but figured would try it if worthwhile during that time. Obviously water is still cold during this time, but we just walk or sit by the ocean. Also were thinking of taking in a show in Lancaster Pa before or after heading down, but may be wasting travel time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, even if someplace different.

Thanks everyone. Seems like we will not be able to travel that far this year due to family health issues, so may just try to get to Delaware Seashore or Cape May again. Temps have not really been warming up much, at least not in NY, so not sure if we really want to be by the ocean. It's been a tradition since we got married 32 yrs ago to be by the ocean for our anniversary, but sometimes life gets in the way.

If you are nautically minded there are two great attractions in the area. Nauticus, with the USS Wisconsin accessed from it. Not far in Newport News is the little known but not to be missed Mariners Museum which among other things a huge model room, amazing, & a civil war gunboat reproduction full size. Easy half day in each of them.

When we visit Va. Beach, we are usually in a hotel for some sort of conference. We enjoy just sitting on the beach and watching the planes come and go. When an aircraft carrier comes in, it is awesome to watch the planes heading into the base.

You will be within easy distance of Williamsburg/Jamestown, (about an hour) as well as Norfolk (15 minutes, or 3 hours if there is traffic).

In Va. Beach in April, there is the "something in the water" festival at the convention center.

As someone else suggested, google "Virginia Beach Tourism". You can also do the same for Williamsburg and Jamestown.

Va Beach to camp Try First Landing State Park
easily open this early in the season. Late April Norfolk holds its Azalea festival.
Va Beach also has the marine science center which is good for a 3-4 hour visit, Norfolk has the USS Wisconsin a WWII Battleship available for tours.

While you are waiting do a Google search for `Virginia Beach tourism' and read what the experts recommend.
