Chippokes Plantation State Park near Surrey, VA -- just a ferry ride across the James River from Jamestown Settlement. Pocahontas State Park near Chesterfield, VA -- short drive to Henricus Historic Park (2nd English settlement in what is now the US). Twin Lakes State Park near Farmville, VA -- short drive to Sailor's Creek Battlefield State Park. James River State Park, Gladstone, VA -- half hour north of Appomattox Courthouse National Historic Park.
