When you overnight at a Walmart or similar place and you are in the south or anywhere where it is hot all night long do you run your generator all night so you can use the air conditioner?
We are traveling across country in a few days from Florida. We will be going across the south and through Texas. We are planning to stay at RV parks but if we have any issues finding a place Walmart or similar place is a possible option.
We have only Wally World camped a couple of times but that was in the mountains where the temps cooled at night. Thanks for the input.
I wouldn't have the slightest qualms about doing so. It seems to me that anyone else who is in a parking lot has no reasonable grounds to be upset about the noise of running engines. (That said, it is plain common courteousy to avoid using loud contractor-style generators when around other campers or overnighters.)
yes. we have done so in the past and would do so now if we were out and about.

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.
My guess is that if it is too hot to sleep, you won't be the only one running a generator. I doubt there are quiet hours at Wal-Mart, but I wouldn't park very close to anyone for lots of reasons.
We use Walmart as a last resort. Never had an issue as long as we check in at customer service. They give you any rules they have locally. Usally there will be semi's there running all night, so our generator is not a problem.
