If you can, take the Great River Road Scenic Byway (US Hwy 61) from Winona up through Hastings, MN. Incredibly great views of the Mississippi River and surrounding bluffs, and lots of bald eagles. Stop at the National Eagle Center in Wabasha WI.
And if you have time, take a RV plant tour while in Elkhart. - DutchmenSportExplorerThe Elkhart County Fairgrounds (Indiana) offers camping. There's a fee, but for an over night, it's a Lot nicer than a Wall Mart. And you might get lucky and see some folks running their horses on the track.
Click here for more info. We've stayed at the Fair Grounds several times.
This was our campsite in October, 2013. We did RV factory tours that week and spent time in Middlebury, Indiana.
This was in 2007. Now this was a fun trip: - K-9_HANDLERExplorerThank you all for the replies, links and photos! They are a great help to us. The fairgrounds sound like a great option. We may hit that on the return trip. Covering the miles quickly on the way out but will have a slower pace on the way back.
- loggenrockExplorerThe RV Hall of Fame in Elkhart allows overnight parking - right off the hiway. We pulled in late, spent the night, then spent a couple hours in the AM going thru the museum. Give 'em a call to confirm! ST
