Welcome Snowbirds

A Note To Snowbirds:
Welcome to our town. It is our place, our life, our love. In order to make your visit here the best ever I offer a few guidelines:

1. Enjoy yourself. Ask questions and learn about the real situation here. Do not become a self-proclaimed expert based upon your short stay here.

2. If you show more than a superficial interest, we may show you areas of this place that “tourists” never see. The hidden gems and places that usually only the locals know about.

3. Please don’t criticize this area. It is what it is. Enjoy it or move on.

4. Share with us, your “story.” We like to hear about how or why you came here.

5. Someday the weather is not the best, and we feel for you. We wish with the limited time you have, the weather would be perfect for you. Perhaps a visit at a different time of year would be better for you. We know it is hot here in the summer. Did you not check the long term forecast before making reservations?

6. We know that this place is not perfect, but often will take offense when it is pointed out by visitors. Rather ask why a condition exists. We would be glad to supply the history and background. It will make more sense when you have all the facts.

7. Yes, we would survive without your tourist money. We did before you arrived; we do every “off season,” and will survive long after you are gone. We really do appreciate the extra income during the busy season, but don’t delude yourself into believing your dollars are vital, or more important than anyone else.

8. Please ignore those who complain about you being here. We get spoiled during the “off season,” when there are no lines, little traffic, and overall, fewer people. These people do forget that your money, although not vital, makes life here better, overall, and have a low tolerance. I sure you have some of these types in your hometown too.

9. We appreciate the other things you do when you are here, such as shoring up our volunteer population, giving blood, etc. It does make a difference and this place even better.

10. Finally, you are guests of this community. Act like one, instead of a self-important know it all. We will trip over ourselves showing you how much we love your type of person. You will get our “best” price, our “best” advice and our friendship. You will be loved and wanted.

Flame Suit on.
