Where to go in Norcal/Central CA for camping

Ok I’m looking for a new place to camp in nor/central CA. I’m looking for a CG that can accept a 36’ (overall) TT and truck, has access to water for activities, mt bike/hiking trails with fire pits and piped water for drinking. I don’t need hookups as I prefer less commercialized locations but would consider if it was just a place that you have to visit. From Sacramento region I’d like to keep the drive to sub 4 hour drive. So recommend away…
  • Camped a few years ago at Dogwood loop on Trinity...not a bad choice. Need to see what mt biking there is locally.
  • Have you been out to Lake Camanche...about an hour south of Sacramento.
  • When summer comes head to the Tahoe area and there is plenty of mountain biking. Cisco Grove has great mountain biking. Stampede and Boca water. Your choice and they are only two hours from home.

Blue Lakes, Hope Valley off of SR 88 with lots of great mountain biking and hiking opportunities. Most is boondocking but you don't want commercial RV parks.
  • I like Spicer Meadow Reservoir, the turnoff is about 25 plus miles past Arnold on Hwy. 4. There are a couple of other lakes up there also, Union and Utica Reservoir.

    Bob in Calif.
