Willow Oaks RV Park in Hesperia CA.

We recently booked a stay at Willow Oaks Park, in Hesperia, CA, based largely on their Good Sam listing (9.5, 9, and 7.5) and their website. We arrived on Thursday, October 1, and paid for four nights in advance ($148.00). Our experience was quite different than what was promised. Our site was basically a space on a gravel parking lot, with little space between rigs.

Their listing says cable access โ€“ but after you have paid you find that is only for monthly occupants.

Since we couldnโ€™t have cable access, the site says, โ€œThe club house includes a big screen television and comfortable seating area. . .โ€ Looking through the window of the locked door, we saw a television with two old, saggy couches next to it. When we tried to gain access, we were told you could only go in if paying to reserve the club house.

Because of health issues, a spa is one of the reasons for us to choose a campground. Their โ€œindoor spaโ€ was quite anemic, not all of the jets were operational, the spa did not appear to be properly maintained and was in an old, dirty, cell with bars on the window.

BBQs and picnic tables that are pictured on their website are not anywhere near where you are parked.

First thing in the morning, I went to the office to say we would not be staying, and explained our dissatisfaction. I was referred to the sign which claims, โ€œNo refunds are given for early departure for any reason.โ€

I know of a little known jewel, and that is the Yucaipa Regional Campground. It has a great abundance of trees and beautiful sites, with grass all around. It is just between Redlands and Calimesa, close to a great neighborhood. If has full and partial hook ups. It is operated by San Bernardino County.

Once again, as with Skinner & Pechanga, Yucaipa RC is pretty far from the high desert.

The park's name is Desert Willow. I've reviewed the park at a number of different RV park review sites. Not sure my reviews (and others) would have addressed all your concerns, but those reviews are general very good tools. The park definitely has it's shortcomings, but this is an older desert park. Pechanga & Skinner are nowhere near Hesperia. (I retired out of Temecula.) A better recommendation would have been Mojave Narrows. The cable issue I agree with. We have satellite & carry a selection of DVD's when we can't get a clear signal. Having attended high school & the community college in the area, I agree that this area has gone completely to the dogs. Far more than the casual observer would realize. My brother & sister teach at local schools . . . suffice it to say that this area attracts a very low socioeconomic class. Desert Willow RV is a place I use for short term visits, especially when the desert winds are really blowing (34mph a week ago) or to time my arrival into the Inland Empire around commuter traffic. It is not a destination park by any means.

We stayed at Desert Willow in Hesperia and will happily stay there again. We were in a gravel pull through close to the office and pool. It was just down a frontage road, maybe 4 miles to several Victorville restaurants and a Walmart. There was a closer Walmart and an In-n-Out Burger place, but more restaurant choices near the Victorville one. It is not a destination place, but decent for a couple of days.

I used to live near Hesperia and never saw "Willow Oaks Park". Are you sure it's not "Desert Willow RV Resort"? If so, there are several reviews on rvparkreviews.com that mention many of the same shortcomings you do. We always use multiple review sites to make sure we'll be happy with the park.

I lived in So Ca for over 40 years. Some of the real nice towns like Hesperia have gone down hill. Hated to see it but it happens. I would not go back to Hysperia. Temecula has so much more to offer. Great shopping, & nice restaurants. Plus some nice wineries to visit. I live in WY but still know the great CA RV spots. We go back qute often.

The park is like the town of Hesperia, CA. A good place to be from. You may have had better luck in Victorville, CA.

Spent a night there in 2009 and found it depressing. Hope you review it on RV Park Reviews.
