Bussskipper, thanks for the feedback on the weather. I really appreciate it. That's that kind of weather I was thinking, one just never knows.

Another question for those of you who have stayed at Mammoth. Since we have a FW, moving from another campsite to snag and site with the chance of not getting one is disappointing, so . . . do they allow you to drive in with just your TV, pay for a site, then return with your RV? We've done this a couple of times for Baker's Hole FS CG in West Yellowstone, staying at Grizzly, driving over to Baker's Hole, paying for a site, then returning with our RV. Thanks.

YNP in October is lovely -- a little chilly at times. This photo was taken in West Yellowstone -- the cord to the coffee maker is frozen -- and this is not a trick shot:

Our current trailer is more well-insulated than that one was!

I have always been able to find a spot in Sept but there can be snow anytime after Labor Day. Towing a rig in 12 inches of snow is not good. You can wait a day or two or bring chains. Putting chains on the rear wheels of your TV helps but I don't like towing in the snow.
