Roosevelt is one of the most underrated parks IMHO. We really enjoyed visiting there.
We've been there at least three or four times. But I would rate it as a minor NP. Speaking of the southern unit, it has one road going thru the park and a few hiking trails. We walked all the short ones in a day. IIRC there is one long trail. The landscape is somewhat monotonous, hills mainly grass covered with a few scrubby trees. Yes it is worth a trip or two.
There is a short road into an area off the interstate going to some colorful bentonite hills. But that is a quick stop tho we hiked the one trail up to the top of one of the hills giving a great view of the traffic on the interstate.
The north unit is more visually interesting but still has few trails and one road.
They do have critters tho, especially bison. But the last time we were up there in 2019 we didn't see one bison. Just a matter of timing and no slam on the park.
The park does have a third unit but the ranger say it's a waste of time. Just the foundations of a old building from the TR ranch. And it is a long road to get to it. Seems like they said it was a dirt road too.
