Yellowstone

If you don't have Grand Teton Park on your list, you should take I 80 to Rock Springs WY, then 191 up to 89 and north to Yellowstone. You'll pass through Jackson and GT park.
About 20 miles northwest of Pinedale WY there is a cheap little Gov. campground with water and a dump station right on the Green River. Nice stop before going on to Jackson. North and east of Jackson is Gros Ventre campground, a park campground with water and dump and lots of shade. About 65 miles from Yellowstone.

Backing up, there is a good rv park at Cabela's with full hookups in Sidney NE..or you can park at Walmart.

Between Cheyenne and Laramie there is a rest stop called the Lincoln Memorial and it is a very NICE rest stop, nice and cool.

The big arch, resembling a Conestoga wagon, spanning I-80 near Kearney, is worth a stop. You can camp nearby at Ft. Kearny State Rec. Area; other good CGs along the way in Nebraska include some of the state "waysides" (now I believe are called state parks): Mormon Island, Windmill, and others. Most of them have electric hookups and bathhouses. There is an entry fee just to get into the state parks.

If you are interested in pioneer history, there are other sites along the way - Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer is just one of them. You can detour a bit at Ogallala, and take US 26 northwest to Scottsbluff, another pioneer site, and Chimney Rock along the way. Nice CG near Scottsbluff, county park called Robidoux RV Park. Electric & water hookups. You may need reservations; it's been "discovered." Great view of the bluff from there!

We like to stop and camp at Custer State Park in the Black Hills just south of Mt. Rushmore when we make that trip.

Hey I'm heading to Yellowstone from Ohio on July 1st!! We are stopping in Custer State Park for a few days as a home base to explore The Badlands, Wind Cave National Park, Mt. Rushmore, Devils Tower, Needles Highway, Minuteman Missile Silo and a few other things. Then we head into Yellowstone for a few days and then head to The Grand Tetons for a couple days.

We were there a few weeks ago.We spent a night at Olagalla recreation area.Bueatiful campground on a lake with electric hookups.Also spent a night at Pershing State Park.We took state route 36 across Missouri. It's a very nice road.Pershing was $19 a night with electric.If you're going in the south entrance the Longhorn Ranch motel and campground is nice.Full hookups $50 a.night.

By all means head to Cody, Black Hiils, Custer Mt. Rushmore than on to Yellow stone. After Yellowstone make SURE to drop down the south side of the park and visit Grand Tetons!!! These are what God thout mountains SHOULD look like.
