Yosemite Valley Site - Will I Fit?

I will be trying to book a site and would like to know about the Standard site length limitation. I have read everything on their website and searched this forum. We have a 31 ft. Motorhome. Some of the Standard sites can accommodate RVs and the sites list Maximum Vehicle Length of 35 feet and specify the trailer/fifth wheel length. But they don't list a Motorhome length. Does this mean that the Motorhome can fit and maneuver into the site? What is the difference between "RV" site. Thanks, any help from those of you with experience with Yosemite is appreciated!
  • From driving through the campgrounds, the length limitations seem to be more related to the maneuver room getting into the campsite rather than the actual campsite length.

That situation should be a bit improved this year. Last year several hundred trees were cut down in Yosemite Valley, many in the campgrounds. Dead trees that should have been removed years ago.
  • Thank you! Yep, the drive will be challenging depending on which way I enter the park.
I have driven there many times without a RV. The last time, I came in on Hwy 41 and camped outside the valley in a fifth wheel. After making several phone calls, I got connected today to a person in the campground office and they assured me that I could fit in the Standard campsites with 35 foot length. We’ll see!
  • Also keep in mind that the length of the site isn't a guarantee than you can get into it. Sometimes there are rocks and trees across from the driveway (or on the sides of your site) that limit your ability to maneuver into the site. One year I booked a trailer site in Yosemite and it was plenty long. I ended going with my daughter and we decided to take the tent instead of the trailer. I was glad we did, because that site would have been just about impossible to get into with the trailer.
  • It will fit altho the hippies in the valley won't welcome it. The real problem is getting down the narrow curving roadway to the valley.
  • At NPs 35 foot sites will accommodate 31 foot MHs. Have fun!
  • Since you don't have a trailer, the length limit you need to worry about is the maximum vehicle length limit. Your 31 ft motorhome will be able to get and fit into a 35 ft maximum site with at least four feet to spare.

In general, I think it's easier to maneuver a motorhome than a trailer of the same length, though it may in some cases require a little more back and forth--particularly with a class C that often has a rather limited turning radius. That's why the length limits for trailers are sometimes more stringent.
