for some reason new post are not being highlighted, or bold or what ever it is this new board does to a thread when it has new posts. for the last week or two there has been no way to diferentiate between a topic with old posts and one that contains a new post. maybe we could get the color to change so it would be easier to tell if in fact it has been working?
thanks

Your most recent reply I found at the bottom of the list of replies. My replies are set up for "Oldest to Newest".
Something in the coding was changed so we are taken to the newest post at the bottom of the list. There is now a Black box saying: "Load previous replies". It looks like they are moving to some of what you asked for. 🙄

Hey All!
I just wanted to let you all know that earlier this week, we resolved this issue! You should once again see the title of posts that you have not read show up in a bold font!
As always, thank you again for your patience.

Evan, it's not resolved. None of the forums I regularly read show any change in the topic titles; they all remain in bold type even after I click on "Mark all as read".
We really need the title to stop being in bold type if there are no new replies to that topic, so we don't waste a bunch of time and clicks just to see it's the same old same old.
We also need the system to automatically take us to the newest reply in that topic, rather than make us scroll and scroll, looking for the last one we read. The old format did that for us and it was wonderful.
Please help out us old coots, so we don't get so frustrated that we give up and leave.

its still only half working, brand new topics and thoes that have replys to the main thread show up highlighted, but older posts with replys to different replies to the main topic don't show up as highlighted.

Thank you! As a daily visitor to the site, I appreciate being able to see what is read and not read. I like to view my thread posts from oldest to newest, when someone posts on an old thread is there a way to go directly to the newest post without clicking on load more posts and scrolling over and over? Thanks again!

Hey @MORSNOW,
Great question. Here is my first thought. Let's say you see a post with a new reply to a post from 2019. You're currently set to view old to new, so the reply you see is most likely from 2019 and you don't want to scroll through several pages of replies to see the latest reply. I suggest you flip your reply view to "Newest to Oldest" before you start scrolling. This should reload the replies so that you can see the newest first. The only issue I could foresee is once you exit the page, you might have to change it back for the next post you read.
Let me know if this works for you.

doesnt quite work that way if the new reply from today is to a post in the middle of the conversation as the new board attaches replys to coments at the coments level as a sub comment. so basicly you have to search for it if it isn't a new reply to the main topic.

Hey All,
@StirCrazy thank you for bringing this up! This is my fault, and I am working to fix it now. While updating the community, I accidentally removed that feature that bolds new content. It should be back shortly, but I will update you when it is.
I also wanted to share again that new users commenting on old posts is a good thing. Hundreds of thousands of your old RV.net posts are read by new users each week, which shows how helpful the content is to a new audience. If they are commenting and asking questions on these posts, we should help them or teach them how to start a new conversation.
Thank you all again,

Oh sure way to go, making me thing I am just getting old and senile haha..
what about having a color is that possible? just makes it stand out a little more. I don't mind the old posts popping up, its just for the last bit I am not sure why LOL

Hahaha, I am sorry about that and take 100% of the blame, so it is not your age! 😂 @StirCrazy
@MNtundraRet I think color is a good idea as well. Would you do the title in a different color? Or something similar to the red bar next to new replies?
Mar-27-2024 07:47 AM
I think you would have to do the redbar by the new reply and the main post title. if its just the reply then we won't see there is a new post from the main list..

I reached 80 last year. I might not be senile yet, but my meds may make me seem that way at times when posting here. 😁

I should have pointed out that unsubscribing to a certain post would only keep myself from getting notified of new replies. It would not keep anyone else from seeing the post and all replies. I would still see the post here if it had new replies. That is if you get that function fixed. 😇
