We have 5 units that we rent out in Florida. We have always added a second AC units with a dedicated shore power cable.
The last units we upgraded we decided yo replace the main AC and add the second unit.
We bought 2 13.5K units (
Brochure).
The were advertised as low power consumption capable of running out off a 4Kw generator.
We have 5 of these units in several class Cs. Their performance is wuite good. Huge air volume with good controls. Way better than the dometic or coleman units in comparable price ranges.
The final test was running them with a single generator. We tested them and they run off the Onan KY 4K (standard small motorhome generator). Performance was great and the genset was able to run them confortably. In august in Florida after a few hours in the middle of a hot 98` days the temperature in the motorhome dropped to 65.
We waited a few months to make sure they held up. All the Atwood units have been used a lot and they are working fine.
They advertise that you can run 1 of these AC units with a 2Kw generator. I tested them several times and for long periods of time with this
Ryobi Inverter Generators with no problems.
Thought I would share the information
