2019 Cougar 5th Wheel Awning

Hello,

We bought a 2019 Cougar 5th wheel we owned two prior. Question is the awning is only 10 feet, whereas are other two Cougars were 16 ft across. We are not happy with this. Can anyone suggest how to make the awning longer without actually buying a new awning. Any suggestions would be helpful. We had thought about making a tarp with Velcro to attach but this would seem like a pain to set up for just the weekend camping trips.
  • About the simplest answer is a 10'x 10'or larger easy-up to put up against the end of the awning. That way you are not adding strain to the mounting points of your existing awning by attaching a larger wind sail to it.
  • You just now noticed this? Pretty common for 5th wheels with curb side slides to have short awnings.

Eventually we all miss something. We tend to get blinded by the fancy interior and forget exterior items like awnings when on the RV lot where they don't have room to open them up. A lot of people never look at what they can/can't access when the slides are in because it is on the lot with the slides out when you look at them.
  • Another thought is to buy one of those pop up shelters that you see a lot of people use. If you have a short awning due a slide your choices may be limited. We have a 14' because of the slide and would not want any shorter.
