50 AMP cord storage

Like many of you I have a heavy 50 Amp cord I have to detach, pack up and store underneath in my 5th wheel storage compartment. Presently I curl it up in a Tupperware container then lift it up in the storage area. As you know, it's heavy.

Any ideas out there for a less back breaking way of doing this?

Never heard of a RV cord that is 2/3?

The standard RV 50 A cord will use 3 number 6 wires and one number 8 wire for the ground.

My cord is only ever in one of two places... Bed of truck, or powering the RV.

I just roll it up and toss it in the back of the truck. My trailer stays plugged in year round.

If you have access to an electrical wholesale supply house you can get ti by the foot. Check around there are better places to buy.

This is 40' of the SO 6/4 cable in a 3 gal bucket, doesn't matter, if it 80 degrees or 30 degrees outside still easily goes in the bucket!

The second pic shows what the cord is called and wire sizes. The Camco 50A cord ends are sold on Amazon for example as is the 50A 6/3 and 8/1 SOW cord. It sometimes is less expensive to just get the 6/4.

You need to buy the parts and pcs to make your own 50A cord at the length YOU want. It's real easy and no more $ than the stiff JUNK Camping World sells.

I am not sure what you are showing or how this is better and lighter than the "junk" sold by nearly every RV dealer on the Planet. Some additional (helpful) details would be greatly appreciated. I have that same heavy, bulky, inflexible cord (camping in the cold makes it feel like I am wrestling a python!) that's about 40' long and would love to find a viable option that would let me have a light weight flexible cord 40-50 foot cord that could be easily coiled up in a small tub.

The standard 50A 30' RV cord is 21.6lbs. Heck that's even less than the Andersen Ultimate!

If I ever have the misfortune of buying a 50 amp RV, I would invest in a 30 amp cord which would be adequate for 90% of my use and wouldn't be like wrestling a python in use. actually I already have the necessary cord/fittings/etc.

I use the tupperware method but this is what I would like to install if I can find some room to place it. I looked at it in person at a MORryde booth and it's pretty light but well built.
