Added some sound proofing in step well Chevy 3500

Had to pull the step well cover on the driver side to run some wire, figured I would add some sound proofing since the road noise is an issue. There was nothing there between the metal and the plastic cover. I cut and fitted a thin yoga mat but anything that would absorb noise would work. Had to remove the seat but only 4 bolts.

I have the Workhorse. I think some of it is wind noise from thr flat set face of the rv box just behind the cab doors. Now that I soundproofed the step wells I hear more coming from the step area. P.O. used to hang a blanket over the door but the door is not where it’s coming from. I worked construction for 45yrs long before anybody suggested ear protection so my ears are shot. I hear a lot of white noise anyway so that’s probably part of it.

It's a class C 3500 Express van chassis.

I do think the soundproofing made some difference. Hard to say how much but I noticed more road noise coming from the battery compartment under the entry steps. Going to try and do something with that area next.
