Well, the previous owner of this coach installed a house battery that was simply not a house battery. I think he put it in there because it said "RV" on it and thought that was the ticket. Well, a deep cycle battery with cold cranking power isn't what we needed. So, it was off to Battery Systems to get one of these:
We keep a 2nd battery charger under the hood in case, for some reason, we need to charge the house battery faster than the in place system can or if we need to charge the engine battery. That sits right next to the battery and the power cord runs into the cab
So now instead of a battery that can start this thing we have a battery that can run the 12v just fine. If needed this could turn the engine over but I keep this thing in good shape to hopefully never need that option although we are wired for it.
The new battery fits right into place where the other "RV" battery went, same terminal sides ... an easy perfect fit. This will eventually give us five house batteries when the solar kit is completed.
