Bed Mod

We don't have the greatest bed. The mattress is about 4-5" thick. It seems to be a spring mattress. A few years ago we got rid of a tube type water bed. The foam tops that were on it were still in good shape so we cut them to fit and put it under the main mattress. Made a world of difference.

OK spent two trips and about 10 nights in the RV bed and yes there is a difference when I lay on my side.

Add memory foam to the top of the mattress.

After a day of camping (hiking, biking and sight seeing) my wife and I can sleep on just those foam squares...

Thes foam mattress's tend to make me perspire more soe we throw the covers off when we get up. We have a 6 in, I think, feather down topper, and it isn't as bad as with just the mattress but sleeping all ight on it makes it compress so taking the covers and the heavy thinkamagig helps that too.

DW put a foam topper on last year, my discomfort is when I lay on my side, my shoulder feels the hard bottom. My thinking is this will cushion that a little.

I'll know after I sleep on it if it was a wast of time. (The blocks were free).

As for moisture, we have not had a problem with that but I never thought about breathing so I will pull them up when we winterize so that doesn't become an issue.

If nothing else, that will keep any mattress in place. Nice job !

As far as moisture building up under a mattress... yes, it will do that depending on lots of things. So buy a moisture proof mattress cover from Sears that encases your mattress like a pillow case and zips shut... it's more like Tyvak than plastic...(lets air through but not moisture and does not make crackling noises like a plastic one would.)

Your rubber foam will make a big difference if you have the foam mattresses. I though about doing this under my dinette cushions as well.
