Broken molding around kitchen sink

This has been bugging me for years. Our moho is 15 years old and the molding keeps cracking more each year around the kitchen sink and bathroom sink. I found some molding online that we purchased and tried to install, but I'm sure as you all know, they are originally installed when the cabinets are out. We don't want to have to take the cabinets out. We tried to shorten the "Y" part but it still didn't work. Then I read others tried to glue them in and the glue wouldn't hold. We tried that too, and did not work. Finally scrapped that idea and went out and bought some wood molding, spray painted it and installed it. Took a test drive to see if it would move much going over driveways, shifting from road use, etc. and it still looks good. Anyone replaced theirs and how did you do it and what did you use?

Looks good. Mine has no molding there, only caulk. I have replaced the caulk and seems to be ok.

Yeah, the wood looks good. We don't have molding but had trouble with the laminate in the sink cutout coming off. I popped it all the way off and used contact cement to reglue it. Clamping it while drying was the most difficult part. I used clamps where I could and leaned weights where there was no place to clamp it. So far it seems to be holding.
