Someday, I will have to do this. In the meantime, it's fun to watch someone else do it:

DIY Trailer
2012 Fun Finder X-139 "Boondock Style" (axle-flipped and extra insulation)
2013 Toyota Tacoma Off-Road (semi-beefy tires and components)
Our trips -- pix and text
About our trailer

If you're into this sort of thing, the Teardrops and Tiny Travel Trailers forum is full of threads devoted to building your own.

The aluminum siding is attached with VHB tape, so there's probably some give that will help mitigate the flexing. The frame construction isn't much different than the commercial steel/aluminum framed RV's.

The steel frame will be ok -- but the flexing could do some interesting things to the exterior skin . . . .

Quite a project. I haven't seen any hand made camping trailers that looked that nice on the outside. He really did well with the skin. The DIY trailers and truck campers around here are just plywood nailed together and painted.

I wonder how the ridged steel frame will hold up not being able to flex as the trailer trundles down the road?
