Ceramic Heater Safety

Yes,the ceramic heater I use, and all others I've seen have the safety features you mention, Tip Over Shutoff switch, over heat switch, I'm not sure your dog will burst into flames just by wagging his tail against it, I always put it where the Dachshund can't get at it.

Don't worry about the dog. Once his tail bursts into flames once you can rest assured he'll not go near that heater again.

Pick one up at Walmart. But like you said, make sure it has a tip-over switch. Many don't now, just an overheat, which I would not trust. The overheat is good if something should fall and block airflow around it.

Your post has condemned me to hell as I snorted diet Mountain Dew laughing from thinking about a dachshund running around the camper with its tail on fire.

Electric heaters are nice except you need to run the RV's propane heater to keep the tanks from freezing if it gets really cold.

I use a couple of these low profile oil filled portable heaters...

These have no open flame or red-hot cores to deal with. They have same BTU rating as the other heaters have... May take alittle bit longer to bring up the heat...

Being low profile fits my OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer just right...

If I need to move some heated air around the room I can sit my O-2COOL 10-inch fan behind it...


Works good for us...

We had a cat that had an unbreakable habit of jumping on the kitchen counter. One day he jumped and landed with his rear paw square on the burner of the flat ceramic cooktop. The burner was just shut off. He never jumped on the counter again after he hobbled around for a month with a huge bandage on his foot. It took about 5 years before he would jump up on anything, including a bay window, the bed, anything.

On topic, I have not seen many electric heaters that do not have a tip over switch other than utility types, such as what they call milkroom heaters.

Oil filled are possibly the safest--and a nice even heat, too.
