I have been out of rving for the past couple of years due to family health issues. I'm ready to get back on the road now but before I do , I want to change out my old analog thermostat for a digital. I have a DuoTherm A/C and an Atwood furnace. I know this update has been discussed a few years ago,but I have forgotten the specifics. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Wiring diagram,type and model # of thermostat,etc. would be greatly appreciated. My current analog thermostat only seems to work when it wants to! Thank you so much in advance.

The first is the accuracy of the set temperature. You can enter a specific temp instead of moving a slider close to the number printed on the front of the t-stat. 2nd is how easily you can adjust the temperature differential that controls how far above or below the set temp turns on the a/c or heat.Set up right a digital t-stat can provide a more consistent interior temperature.Switching to a digital t-stat made a big difference in the comfortability inside my trailer.

Take your existing thermostat off the wall and look for a part number on it. Google the part number plus the word digital. I don't remember which site it was, but the site cross referenced the analog thermo for the digital one.

I installed my Honeywell digital a few years back, and would never go with the inaccurate duotherm again. The analog tstat just doesnt have the sensitivity the maintain a nice constant temperature. Can be +/- 3C or more before it kicks in/out vs the digital that will maintain it a +/- 1C. Plus, depending on which you go with (I had the honeywell cheapest one out there), you can add programming schedules if you wish. Having a parked trailer, it was convenient to have the temperature auto drop at night and warm the trailer before I wake.

I recently took it to the next step by putting in a wifi controlled tstat so that I could do things like cool or warm the trailer while I'm en route to the campgrounds, or of course turn the unit off if I realize I left it on while headed home :)

It's really a very easy mod, and if you don't care if you have the high/low fan feature, can realistically be done in under 10 minutes. If you want the high low feature, then it's just a bit more work adding in the SPDT switch and soldering a couple of wires.
