Dometic fridge exterior door latches.

I recently had to replace the propane valve on our Dometic fridge. All went well but I mangled the latches getting the exterior door off. I thought, since they had a slot in their heads, that I needed to rotate them 90 degrees to open the door. They both broke when I did that.  Now, the door is being held shut with duct tape. Where can I get two more latches?

  • Oops, for some reason I read you original post as the interior door for the refrigerator.

To replace the broken ones you will have to get the original replacements out. A needle nosed pliers from the back should squeeze the ears in and let the latch pop out. The replacements just push into the hole until they snap in place.

Yes. I bought two from my local RV repair shop. ($8.00) Now, how do they attach?

  • You're probably going to have to do some sleuthing to figure this one out. I would start with the Dometic website.

    https://www.dometic.com/en-us/support/spare-parts

That will get you the make and model of the refrigerator plus links to suppliers. From a supplier website you might get lucky and then find part numbers. After you find the part numbers you can do some searches for the cheapest prices. I personally like Tweety's RV for parts.
