When I replaced my cable operated valves, I ran small diameter tubing to the same place shown in the video. I used an old valve to test the silicone lubricant and it worked for a very short time, then it swelled the shaft seal making the valve tight and useless. Then I tried the same test on another valve using motor oil and that worked.

I've seen similar posts here where a zerk fitting is installed and you pump the valve with grease. Your post looks like an easier option.
