- beemerphile1ExplorerPlexiglass or Lexan. A plastics shop can get it for you in nearly any color you want.
- prfssrExplorerPlexi-glass is the way to go. We have 3 pieces in our door to cover it completely. NO VELCRO. We purchased 3/16" thick pieces from a local shop, gave them the dimensions and the radius templet for the top of the door and put the plexi-glass into the small slot that is in the screen door. The pieces are large enough to "bow" them and let them slide into the slot. We can remove it anytime we want without having velcro applied to the border of the door frame. We went with a medium smoke color so we can still see out some but dark enough that it's difficult to see in.
On a side note due to a mistake made at the local shop on colors - they gave us some extremely "black" / "dark" plexi-glass pieces for our bedroom windows. It is for those small windows in our slide so when us "old" folks have to take a nap in the afternoon we have these dark covers over the windows and makes it nice and dark for nap time or to keep out the morning sun when your trying to sleep in. - Dannyabear1ExplorerGo to a fabric store, or some walmarts, and buy smoke colored vinyl table covereing, it comes on a roll like fabric also in a few different thicknessess. Remove the spline that holds the screen in the door frame and stretch (it usually takes at least 2 people to do) the fabric over the screen and re apply the spline to hold it all in place. Works great.
- Johno02ExplorerWhy not Plexi-glass?? lots of us have done that, and it works very well for exactly what you are saying.
