HomeMade fridge screen

Too cheap to buy the outrageous priced commercial screening I made and installed some myself

The "slobber" tube for condensate/defrost goes through a 3/4 copper sweat union.
The next time I'm in town I'll replace that with a piece of PVC to make it invisible to the casual eye.

It's not very noticeable now

I used aluminum window screening held in place with two sided tape and overlapped with "Gorilla " duct tape.
What little loss of flow I get will be offset by two 120mm fans thermostat controlled.

Combustion Air intake and exhaust port for the furnace ...

... but there are a few water heater intake/exhaust combos that look like that.

Here is a link to a larger picture. If you click it you will see a huge photo and you can scroll down and right to read the label.

Old Urban RV Myth:

Buy a cheap flea collar and cut it in half. Put a piece in the fridge compartment, and HW compartment to keep bugs out. Does it work, really don't know. Have I ever had bug issues after doing it...no.

Yup many of the class A's at least seem to like putting the furnace under the fridge including ours.

Same here, hoping to do the screen mod this summer as well.

I thought it was a strange place for a furnace too.

Ok. I have to admit that's the first time I've seen a furnace vent that appears to be nowhere near the furnace. And I've never seen a furnace under a refrigerator.

Looks like an Atwood 79/80 series exhaust/intake assembly.
They don't have an outside access panel. Remove furnace from inside rig.
Like some Suburbans but their exhaust/intake are vertical

Hence the mesh.

Thanks!!

Never had a problem inside the outside fridge compartment.

Wasps are fast builders and will defend their turf.
So I understand the reasoning.

They have even built a nest inside the gas door on the wife's car when we were driving it 6 days a week and getting gas regularly.
IF the screen gets dusty a paint brush will clean it or one could take the door off and hose it like a window screen.
What little air flow loss will be offset by thermostatically controlled exhaust fans.

Why the screen on fridge vent cover?

And how do you keep t clean so it doesn't obstruct air flow?

I used fiberglass screen and urethane caulk. Just run a bead and push the screen into it, and let it cure.

That looks good! I did the same with plastic screening and used a hot glue gun. I like the slobber tubing,, going to have to reroute mine..
