Hybrid fold-out conversion

I have tried to look up info for conversion of my hybrid trailer from its canvas fold out to a hard-sided foldout. I'm not finding the right keywords to help me find ideas. I LOVE the extra room of the fold-out bed and the closed up length of the body during travel, as I need that for my Jeep Wrangler.
  • You might try to look up photos of old Apache pop-up campers. Those were hard sided with no canvas. We looked at one once and found it claustrophobic.

If you get something working you'll have to post photos. While it's not something I would consider it's an interesting idea.
  • I have decided that if I do the conversion, it will be to modify the front end to add on a "fifth wheel nose" to the body while retaining the original hitch, which means measuring for the clearance needed for the Jeep's body as it rotates through the angles of turning. Fortunately, I have one of those combination hitches with ball, sway bar, and load distribution bar connections, which sticks out a ways rearward from the Jeep. Still, it means I have to cut the space for the bed shorter to provided the needed clearance.

Right now, I have repairs to make. I just reglued the laminate on both of the cabinet doors. Next up is resealing more fixtures on the roof so it won't leak. We had a heck of a storm two days ago, and it appears to have held up well (resealed both tank vents and bathroom fan vent).
