Interior restore with new facia

Sorry but first post and I'm already asking for support. I have an older 1997 5th wheel. One owner and everything works fine. Wife and I just want to "UpDate" the interior. I guess my question is... If I replace paneling with a much better grade or straight wood will that be too heavy? Also looking at replacing carpeting with laminate of even hardwood.

Ours is the "older" just whiteish colored paneling now. It's just my wife and I and we actually only use the RV during in-climate weather... and here in TX that is not often :)

Any advice is truly appreciated!!

    Never apologize for asking for help! That is the real strength of this forum. As to your question, have you considered painting? It could be just as effective and easier to accomplish. Plus, you wouldn't have your RV torn up and out of commission.

    Three years ago I sought a lot of help on this forum to buy my first Class C. Still have her and now we've enjoyed 23 states and over 20,000 miles. I wish you success!

    thanks Mike but we are looking for a different look. Could buy new but just don't use a lot. We want to change look up to and including seats and such with new materials.
    Actually just be a project to keep me busy. I've retired but my wife will still work for another year. She hates me sitting and doing nothing ;)

    If you don't want to remove and replace the walls, how about paint, wallpaper and new trim. That would keep the weight down. Plantation shutters or something new on the windows. For the floor, I'd avoid the weight of actual wood flooring, but there are many products that look like wood or tile but are lighter weight. Be
    careful for clearance of any slide you may have. New lighting fixture and knobs on cabinets, new faucets. Those go a long way to updating the look too.

    wallcovering, paper and trim, will add very little wait

    i would not attempt NEW paneling, unless i was ready to RIP everything apart

    many have replaced carpet with laminate flooring, and are very happy with the result
    many laminates weigh less than the carpet
