Internal Fridge fan

As recommended here I bought the fan assembly on eBay and modified it to use a "binder" clip as the alligator clip that comes with if was just too flimsy .
I used a center punch to mark the clip and it drilled surprisingly easy for spring steel.

  • I like the binder clip as the alligator clip is really not quiet strong enough. I have 2 of these fans in our fridge. :) Mine are set up to push into the fins.
  • The fans push in .
That keeps the fins from frosting / iceing up and cools the fridge faster and evener.

Great idea, just received my fan today, same one. Will do this mod tomorrow also.
    Thanks for posting this.

  • what catagory did u find those fans under & how much?
  • Look at this on eBay:

DOMETIC NORCOLD REFRIGERATOR FAN FOR RV 12 VOLT

    $13.50
  • Those fans work awesome! I have a 12cf fridge and one of those fans made a big difference in the heat of the Summer. I was still getting frost on the coils that didn't have the fan so I purchased a second one. With 2 of them running there is no frost on the coils and the refrigerator cools much more efficiently even when stuffed full. The fan is money well spent. I like the binder clip mod. Since I have a ton of those things laying around my office, I may go ahead and do that to my fans, but the so far the alligator clip has worked just fine. I would much prefer to spend the energy on installing switches to turn the fans on and off.
