I know for 100% sure that the horizontal tanks do not need an opd valve nor do they need to be recertified. I have only had an issue one time while traveling at a Camping World getting a tank filled.
If having an issue make a copy of this on sticker paper and attach to tank.
Finding the difference between tanks ASME and DOT is not so easy to pin down.
