Manual lift lever for an a-frame trailer

I recently purchased a 2003 Chalet Arrowhead a-frame trailer. I know there is a manual lift lever available but can'take afford the factory add-on price. They also want me to bring my trailer to them (2000 miles) so they can install it.
Has anyone come up with a DIY lever system. I've watched a video and I am sure there must be someone out there who has some Ideas!
Thanks for any help.
  • What is a "manual lift lever"? Are you talking about a hand cranked tongue jack vs an electric one?
If so, then either one is a very easy, simple installation that anyone can do themselves.

  • Thanks for the reply. I am attaching a photo that shows a white lever on the lower back corner with the fulcrum attached to the rear roof section. By lifting up on the handle and pivoting to the rear you the rear roof section. The front roof follows it up from a spring.
Normally you lift the front section by hand and push it up and the rear section follows it up. I am an old man and not tall enough or strong enough to do this.

ps Couldn't post photo. New at this and can't figure how to.
  • Both Napa and O'Rielly auto parts sell the cushion/support arms and the rest of the handle would be an easy fabricate from a used canopy arm and attach. I just bought a set for my tonneau cover for my pickup to replace the ones that got weak. They attach with a mini ball hitch.
  • Thanks for the info. I'll go online and see what they got.
Thanks again. These forums work well!
