No need for toilet bowl brush ?

Hi there,

Hope you don' find this idea silly . I was planning to buy a toilet bowl brush for the RV then I came across this idea . Instead of throwing the toilet chemical drop-in directly into the tank, I throw it into the toilet bowl while the toilet seal is closed . I add water and keep the chemical and water in the bowl for about 10 minutes then I open the seal to let water into the tank . The bowl is shine and clean .

Here are my concerns:

1. Will the chemical damage the toilet seal if it stays in the bowl for too long ?
2. Is it safe (any health concerns) ?

    Personally, I like to brush the bowl every time after a #2 to ensure everything is good for the next time. The tank chemicals are not really designed to clean you bowl they are designed to control odor.

    If our bowl gets "dirty" a shot of dish detergent in the water left for a couple of minutes takes care of it.
    If it has a ring in it that is more stubborn just give it a shot and leave till next flush.
    One less thing to carry/clean/store.

    We have a brush. Never used it. If the toilet is half filled with water there is little chance that a brush would be needed in the first place, but if it is I would prefer to use the brush over leaving the blue stuff in the bowl for any length of time. Besides, nothing beats mechanical action to clean anything unless it is dust. The tank chemicals are designed for the inside of the holding tank and hence they are probably too strong for the bowl.

    I don't know. It sounds like using mouthwash instead of a toothbrush. I think I'll stick with using a brush.

    I have a small brush that fits into its on container. It is needed from time to time

    Put an X of toilet paper in the bowl BEFORE using it. The water from the flush takes everything down with it, leaving a clean bowl. I do clean up the bowl about once a week, just like at home, but this method avoids having to do messy in between cleanups.

    I put on a disposable glove and go at it with a plastic sponge. Takes all of ten seconds.

    I thought that's what the corncob on a string was for. It sure ain't gonna replace my Northern Quilted.

    I wax the bowl of the plastic toilet occasionally. Keeps things from sticking
