Online parts source?

Hi everyone,

Recently sold our TT and TV...kids are older, and DW booked a trip to Hawaii.
Plan was to try the 'touring' route and either motel or tent it.....we'll see how that goes...lol
Anyway, just dawned on me that my father-in-law has a cute little European style travel trailer at the side of his house that he's made grumblings about getting rid of...

DING DING DING......lightbulb went off in my head. WE SHOULD TAKE IT!!
Our new Honda CRV will tow it, but the current layout is no good....soooooo, thinking to myself, "why not gut it and build it up to suit us?"

Trying to find an online source for appliances etc....fridge, HW heater, toilet (big selling point for DW :)) converter, furnace (maybe), and small holding tanks.

DW is rolling her eyes, but I think it would be a fun project, just need to find hopefully one spot to grab the parts.

Cheers,

Mike

You can get some small trailers new for not a lot of money. Jayco swift 14', Cherokee Wolf Pup 14', KZ sportsman 14' Fun Finder 14' Palomino 14' all under 10k new. I've seen some 2013's on sale for around 9k. These can be towed with about anything.

Yup, that's my next plan of attack..
    :)

  • Well, looks like the dream is over....
Was over at the in-laws today and snuck out to check it out.
Opened the misaligned door and was hit with an overwhelming smell of mildew/mold. :(
Noticed an outside wall bulging as well as all the drywall corner-bead screwed to every corner.
Was hoping for a good set of bones, but it's been so long since I've seen it that I didn't realize how rough it was....sigh
Never mentioned my interest in it to dear Fil, so he's none the wiser.
Thanks for all the info folks, but this one was going to be waaaaay more than I wanted to deal with

    Tenting here I come..... :( :)
  • Yes, we could be a bit soggy by the time we get to Hawaii, and my arms will be sore from rowing....
It doesn't have holding tanks, and I will have to check on clearances as she sits pretty low, but I'm hoping to be able to install a small black tank.
Wish list includes: bathroom with toilet and sink, small fridge, kitchen sink and cabinet, and possibly a microwave (new converter req'd of course).
Heading over today to check it out......hopefully it isn't to far-gone
  • There were a series of articles in Trailer Life on the rebuild of a travel trailer. KISS and you should not have that many problems to surmount. Does the trailer have holding tanks?
  • I think that you will find the road to Hawaii can be a bit flooded depending on the time of year , you may want to check that out!. We would hate to see you do all that work in the new camper just to have it get wet and moldy...... :B Joe
  • I go to the accessory manufacturer sites like Dometic for example. Then I Google the model number to find the best online price.
  • Google "RV Parts and Accessories" and many, many vendors pop up. Good luck.
