oxygenics spa showerhead not for me

I've read a lot of good things about the oxygenics showerhead and decided to give it a try despite that I had no issues with my stock unit. So I installed it and right off the bat I noticed that the hose was very stiff and the showerhead stuck out about 6 inches further from the wall. My shower stall is small enough that this was disappointing.

The water flow was stronger and like a massage spray pattern vs a gentle rain flow that I got from the old unit. So did I want more overspray in my small shower compartment?

Was going to give it a try anyway on our next trip. Then I decided to see how much water it saved. So I took a large bucket and measured and marked one gallon on the bucket. To my surprise the oxygenics filled the gallon mark at 30 seconds. Installed my old showerhead and it filled to the gallon mark at just over one minute.

Now I'm sure this unit fills the bill for a lot of campers but not for me. So I put back the old stock unit, bracket, hose and showerhead.

I like the pressure and spray pattern of my stock unit better and that I used half as much water per minute.

We bought one and didn't like the head, but we LOVED the part that attaches to the wall and holds the shower head. So we ditched the shower head and kept the hanger.

I love the increased pressure of the water that comes out of the Oxygenics. My original shower head didn't have real pressure.. I frequently have achey joints and love the extra pressure (similar to massager). That being said, bought one and put in my parents MH, and they hated it. Mom claimed the pressure was too much almost to the point of hurting. She also claimed she got the whole bathroom wet with it. In hers, I thought I had someone with a cup slowly pouring water on my head. I guess it is all what you want.

we crank it up to the point it starts to spit. It's still WAY less water and way more of the spray than the OEM. But it's not small

Thanks for the review bobm253 and thanks to everyone else who added their input. We've been wondering about Oxygenics showerheads but haven't really had a reason to buy one. Now we know that our original one is the best one for us.

We bought an Oxygenics a few years ago after reading all the hype on forums. We turn it down to the lowest flow of water necessary for a shower but it doesn't give a spray pattern at a low flow rate and is just a narrow little stream. Not very impressed. May go back to the original cheapo OEM shower head that came with our TT.

We bought one -- chose not to put it in our trailer because it was so heavy and large and used a little more water than the mini head I had earlier installed. We did the bucket test, too, and it was a little less efficient than we had hoped.

But we then put the Oxygenics into our home shower, and we really like it! Calif is in a bad drought (maybe forever), and the Oxy gives us a hard spray with very little water, compared to the usual home showerhead.

We bought an oxygenics at Lowes last month for about $ 40.00 . We tried it and didn't like it so we returned it. The shower head was a different type than we had seen at Camping World.

We never bought one. A couple of our friends didn't recommend oxygenics either.

"To each, their own" That's what makes for "happy campers". 🙂

We bought one and it's not for me either. Stuck too far out from the wall. Our shower is smaller and low ceiling so water sprayed everywhere. Put the old stock one back on...much better.

Your RV, your choice. Nothing wrong with that.
A lot of us feel differently, but I shower in my travel trailer, not yours, so I guess everybody's happy! 🙂

Never heard of anyone not happy with the head but he has valid points on water usage and especially the hose. I replaced the hose with a 6' ultra flexable hose with a stainless outer jacket and was so impressed, did the outside shower as well as the home showers. Check out Home Depot

I also did a bucket test and found the oxygenics uses as much water as the stock ITASCA head, but if you simply install a shutoff valve and back it off, the savings goes WAY up, and frankly it's a better shower with reduced flow. I sure wouldn't give it up

Re: Rinsing out long hair. I have a spray attachment on my galley faucet and wash my hair in the sink rather than in the shower. This works better for me but maybe not for everyone.

Interesting. I've never heard of anyone being un happy with the oxygenics.

We don't use ours to conserve water as we've all mastered the half gallon shower. I just like the pressure for those hooked up days when I can stand under a hot shower for a bit.
