oxygenics spa showerhead not for me

I've read a lot of good things about the oxygenics showerhead and decided to give it a try despite that I had no issues with my stock unit. So I installed it and right off the bat I noticed that the hose was very stiff and the showerhead stuck out about 6 inches further from the wall. My shower stall is small enough that this was disappointing.

The water flow was stronger and like a massage spray pattern vs a gentle rain flow that I got from the old unit. So did I want more overspray in my small shower compartment?

Was going to give it a try anyway on our next trip. Then I decided to see how much water it saved. So I took a large bucket and measured and marked one gallon on the bucket. To my surprise the oxygenics filled the gallon mark at 30 seconds. Installed my old showerhead and it filled to the gallon mark at just over one minute.

Now I'm sure this unit fills the bill for a lot of campers but not for me. So I put back the old stock unit, bracket, hose and showerhead.

I like the pressure and spray pattern of my stock unit better and that I used half as much water per minute.

What's great for someone is not necessarily even good for someone else.
No worries. Buy it or not. I appreciate the fact that the OP would post the review of his experience.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

I just installed the oxygenice head before this trip and have only used it once but LOVED IT!!! I like the spray and pressure. Way better than the stock one for sure. Did not compare the usage but we all take really quick showers to conserve water anyway. As for the hose, a few days in 100 heat and it loosened up just like the old one! To each his own but I couldn't be happier with it ๐Ÿ™‚

Its funny how many people are so fickle about their shower heads, myself included.

My old house, I had to replace my shower head. after about for trips to Home Depot, i finally found the one that I liked. When we moved into our new house back 2003, I took that shower head with me. I just swapped them out.

Its still going strong today.

I posted some time back that I tried the Oxygenics and hated the stream shape (or lack of shape - it was just one large jet rather than a spray) and got the same response. I have since tried the EcoCamel shower head and like it much, much better.

I ordered the Oxygenics RV shower head off of Amazon. The hose was unusable it was so stiff. My original head has rubber nozzles that had aged and fallen apart, It was made by a subsidiary of Delta. I flat didn't like the Oxygenics shower at all (the spray pattern or the shape of the head), and ended up buying a Delta replacement head with the built in shut off valve, identical to the original. Much better.

I swapped out my OEM for on OXY before our first trip in early spring.

We don't use the shower much, as most CG's have showers that we use (to save our water and grey tank space)

I like the pressure and the spray pattern. I also like the push button on/off feature. Our OEM had a little tab you had to slide.

For those features alone, im happy with it.

I ordered a new one from Amazon and installed it a week ago in the new elkridge. Was huge disappointed, even dw said it looks the same but it isn't. No flow, Nada satisfied. Last night after a few ultra cokes I came in to shower and was monkeying about and bam! It started to work right... Seems like the on off thingy needed a bit of manipulation.

Add us to the list of those who installed an Oxygenics shower head and didn't like it ... sold it at a loss and replaced it with this garden variety Valterra Shower Head which creates a wide and powerful shower spray, just like in the house shower. I also recently replaced the fixed position shower head bracket with this Phoenix Adjustable Shower Head Bracket which allows us to adjust the angle of the shower spray up or down to better suit the height of the person showering. :B

I have seen Oxygenics with the very stiff plastic hose and the more flexible stainless hose.

After having one in our old trailer it was the VERY first thing we purchased for our 5er.

We love our. Our older one had a different hose so I may changed the hose with a different one at some time

Pretty much everything the OP says is true; the hose is stiff, but loosens up, was going to buy a better hose but have gotten used to it; it does stick out farther than some units.

All in all, we love our Oxygenics

Installed the Oxygenics shower head in all of the 4 5ver's I have had...and liked them all. Just my opinion!

I, too, was not impressed with the Oxygenics shower head. First, the hose was WAY too stiff; I ended up using my old hose instead. Second, the first time it was dropped, the shutoff valve broke off at the threaded end. I ended up buying a metal shutoff valve to replace it. Finally, the spray pattern, like another poster said, was more of a narrow โ€streamโ€ rather than a pattern, unless you turn the water volume way up, which kinda defeats the purpose of trying to save water.

My stock shower head has a much nicer spray pattern, sufficient pressure, and a nice built in rotary shutoff valve on the back of the head. For me, anyway, the Oxygenics was a waste of $45.

Our Stock shower headed lasted 2 showers and leaked, broke, and was PIA, so we decided to go with this clicky and we love it. Sturdy, with long hose, on off switch, and highly adjustable. We have a large shower in our 5er. Our 6ft 2in son in law loves it and even bought one for their home! But as other have related, to each his own.
