oxygenics spa showerhead not for me

I've read a lot of good things about the oxygenics showerhead and decided to give it a try despite that I had no issues with my stock unit. So I installed it and right off the bat I noticed that the hose was very stiff and the showerhead stuck out about 6 inches further from the wall. My shower stall is small enough that this was disappointing.

The water flow was stronger and like a massage spray pattern vs a gentle rain flow that I got from the old unit. So did I want more overspray in my small shower compartment?

Was going to give it a try anyway on our next trip. Then I decided to see how much water it saved. So I took a large bucket and measured and marked one gallon on the bucket. To my surprise the oxygenics filled the gallon mark at 30 seconds. Installed my old showerhead and it filled to the gallon mark at just over one minute.

Now I'm sure this unit fills the bill for a lot of campers but not for me. So I put back the old stock unit, bracket, hose and showerhead.

I like the pressure and spray pattern of my stock unit better and that I used half as much water per minute.

Bob,

Ours has no stock parts. The OE shower wand was wimpy and ran water faster (I don't remember the numbers), the hose had gone rigid and the valve did work right.

I used to hose (longer and more supple) from an older one in the S&B, and bought a push-button valve at a big box.

The way it is now, we like the Oxygenetics, but the shape is ungainly.

I really applaud you for actually testing the thing out. Too often products, especially for the RV world, are flogged with very dubious claims. And it seems that normally smart folks that would be skeptical of product claims in any other area of their life suddenly become "zombies" when it comes to Rv products and buy tons of needless stuff...

Glad you did this and glad you posted it.

This is the kind of testing that MH and Trailer Life magazines should be doing. Unfortunately they are too much the creatures of the aftermarket industry.

We installed our older version Oxygenics showerhead 8 years ago although our TT's stock showerhead worked OK. I did do a bucket test and found the Oxygenics showerhead used roughly 1/3 less water while delivering a more invigorating spray that my DW appreciated for rinsing out her long hair. As with any product results will vary, hopefully you were able to return it for a refund.

That's the first I've ever heard of someone doing that.
