Remodel cargo bed in TH

We have a 20’ Carson Toy Hauler. It has the Queen bed suspended over the cargo area. My husband and I want to use this bed but at our age, and with knee problems, climbing up and down that ladder to get into bed is not happening.

We want to redo the bed using either the Happijac bed lift or have a contractor split the bed in half and mount on hinges, like the dinette seats, so the bed folds up onto the sides of the trailer, but drops down and meets in the middle to form one queen size bed. It would have supporting legs under it, just like the dinette.

Does anyone have recommendations or horror stories that might be helpful?

I have seen a Queen size Murphy bed that was all one unit for TH. I don't remember who made it.

Thanks RK. We haul toys but the Murphy bed style would work too 🙂

Took ours out and put a murphy bed in just pick it up when we want more space. we don't hall toys around anyway.

I have installed one in a 21' Carson. I was thinking that I would have to pull the paneling to add blocking to mount it to, but there was enough blocking already for the bed that I took out. It seems to be working good.
